I just want to steal this picture right out of my computer screen and throw it up at my wall. Pueblo Aztec design is blowing up right now and I love and also hate it, but mostly I like it... I prefer authentic art rather than the fluorescent equidistant CG art insults that drizzle most aisles now'days. This particular image is probably somewhere in the between of those extremes but... in contrast to the opinion i just shared, I like it.... and it's generic horribleness... i'm so ordinary.
Another in betweener...

Souvlaki, Dolmathes and Zumba ;)

Well Hello Wednesday, January 18, 2012!
Today is my day off to revisit my life at home. Been working a lot lately at Sushi Garden and teaching Zumba and housesitting/ taking care of my Nana :) I have been discussing PR opportunities with a cousin who works in the Public Relations world about any entry level positions she hears about and she's been giving me advice on how to apply and send resume/CL's and all that. God Bless that woman! Hopefully things will line up for me in 2012... Still on Cabrillo's Nursing program waitlist, which feels useless but... staying positive! I have yet to see a definite path but with a positive attitude, hard work ethic and faith, I am sure my future holds great things for me :) Been a major pinterester lately! Can't stop pinning everything i see that i like. Oh well, it's like an expression outlet for me. So much to catch you up on lately! How about some pics...
That's me and Mike at my mom's bday dinner at Shadowbrook to listen to Joe Ferarra sing on his geetar and play some awesome old music... kinda for the older folks but still very enjoyable by most.

The next pic is of our favorite dinner spot in Santa Cruz, Vasili's Greek Restaurant on Mission St. OMG the food here is UMMMazing!!! If you ever get the chance to go, please get the souvlaki plate with half kefthetakia (greek meatballs) and half pork skewer. You can also ask for half rice and half potatoe as the sides and always choose the salad as your appetizer!! It's the freshest salad that comes with a huge chunk of french bread, olives, pepperoncini, tomato, onion and delicious crunchy lettuce with greek style olive oil/ vinegar dressing! They have an awesome happy hour every weekday from 3- 6 PM!! Get there, their app's are half price and so are their beers and wines by the glass... SO yum!
See what I'm sayin? The plate in the forefront is a souvlaki plate with two scoops of rice pilaf, which is tasty with lemon juice, instead of the potato option. It comes with a side dish of tatziki (who doesn't love cucumber garlic greek yogurt for dipping??) and another fishy salty sauce, not my fave, but still good! Massive side of fresh seasoned pita bread, MMMMM. The bean salad in between the rice is a yummy green bean, bean tomato corn salad that blends together nicely and is always a take home, but great as leftovers on pita with tatziki :) what else, can you tell i flippin love LOVE this place? There's another Greek food place in Santa Cruz, The Greek (how original), by the original owner of Vasili's who ended up selling and starting a new one... not as good as Vasili's. I hate to say it. I always treat myself to a buffet of drinks: water (sometimes sparkling), soda (usually Coke or Pepsi), a glass of wine (Greek), or a beer (usually Anchor Steam) and I'm a happy camper. Also, they make some stellar Dolmas! Menu presents them as dolmathes, a olive oil marinated grape leaf wrapped around a mix of rice, lemon, herbs, olive oil and whatever else, in perfect bite size wraps... mmmmm! Moving on...
ZUMBA!
Here's a photo intro about my adoption of Zumba Fitness into my life to share my love and passion for dance with the fitness seekers in the world! Stay tuned for more info regarding my class schedule and locations :D
This is me with Pepper Von, a Zumba Educational Specialist (ZES) who tours with Beto Perez filming Zumba Jam Sessions and ZIN DVD's. He came to Soquel's own, Santa Cruz Dance Company to teach a Master Class with Joy Smith! Joy is great, she is also a ZES and owns a dance studio in my hometown where AMAZING talent comes through. I get so much energy from participating in classes at SCDC! Zumba has changed my life, which is why I want to share Dance, Health and Fitness with others! Zumba is meant to be accessible to anyone!! With Zumba you don't only get a physical workout, you get a a great mental workout, a great sense of community and tons of opportunities to participate in it!! SCDC has provided me and my fellow Zumba-goers a unique and fun opportunity to share DANCE with each other! More on the topic of Zumba is sure to come so I hope you are interested in learning a little bit more about it, and perhaps coming out to any of my classes, to learn a new step, get a greak workout, sweat a TON and smile the entire time!
My class schedule: Thursday's 6:00 PM at Santa Cruz Power Fitness in Santa Cruz on Water St. 95062 (831) 425-4653

Choose LOVE

G'day.. So many things since last time. Mike, Mose and I moved into a townhouse in Santa Cruz where we don't have a roommate to hate anymore :) We are just livin the dream in our cute little abode close to town, down the street from a friend, right on the harbor and across from a dog park where Mosey makes new friends all the time. We are in the midst of job hunting the both of us. Boy i'll say that times are tough these days. i have reached a very confusing crossroads in my life, yet again i should say.. i am curious about my degree in communications and whether or not i should use it to get a job while i figure out if i will wait to go to nursing school or if i should just take out students loans and apply to an accelerated program right away. i have been very involved in arts and crafts lately and am obviously interested in design, a healthy lifestyle, and have shown interest in public relations. i was thinking at trying my hand at PR again. here's why i'm thinking i might actually be good at it: i am very determined at this piont in my life. let me explain, i'm 26 and ready to buckle down with some work that inspires me. that is my problem, i am too inspired by the world these days that i can't just pretend that i'm not and go out every night like other people i know and just get drinks and waste money. i want to work hard at something that inspires me and really establish a professional means for me to be successful. it is hard to break into the professional world and get someone to believe that what i say isn't bullshit, i actually want to do work and do it well!!! i feel like public relations would be a way for me to feel connected to the world where things are constantly happening every day and that life isn't just about gettting food to the table (although i'll admit that my job is important to those who's day revolves around their sushi dinner...). i feel that public relations can be a cut throat, brutal business that is planning things for months down the road, but that is what is so exciting about it. i feel that i have a general knowledge of how the media works and could do some real damage if only someone took me on... right now i am on a nursing program waitlist that will take a few years to wait out, so i thought "it couldn't hurt" if i were to just try my hand at a job in the pr world or communications world. i am interested in intercultural communications, marketing, pr, entertainment, arts, a healthy lifestyle, tourism... and i am also interested in the medical field and actually helping people/ making a real difference in people's lives. what to do... going to bed now to sleep on it. hopefully answers will come. love you all!!!

Hello again! It has been a while. I am happy to be back because so much has happened since our last visit. Summer! Is one amazing thing. Summer is the time of year when there is something warm in the air. I know what you're thinking... right, it's warmer in the summer, what a phenomenon. well i say, of course it is! but i live in a foggy little town where i haven't felt summer really at all as far as the temperature outside. my summer has been a thick layer of whitish grey low cloud coverage. It isn't until 3 or 4 in the afternoon that any glimpse of sunshine or thawing of the extremities kicks in. however, my summer has felt warm like i said, and let me explain why. Colors, smells, laughter, cheers, music, blossoms, tastes and pure stimulation has begun. Whether this comes from a mere exploration of life's greatest feelings and moments this world has to offer, or from an epiphany that was recently made about how i was kind of in a crossroads in my life... i don't care. The point? I am alive!!! I am the only person stopping me from doing exactly everything that i want to do. With that in mind, i introduce an inspired me. i have begun to really take interest in myself, my family, my friends and my experiences. i could delve into any realm of my life right now but to begin my discussion today, i will begin with my newest endeavors:

1) i have officially applied to Nursing School.

2) i have taken sewing to another level with quilting and refashioning/ designing clothes.

3) i have been exercising more than i ever have and feel great.

4) i am motivated!

my newest concern is involvement in things i love to do that are resume worthy. i have a crush, on a company, called IDEO. I won't bother you with wordy descriptions, but let's just say it would be my life's biggest achievement if i ever were to be a part of their team! oh to study human desire and behavior, develop marketing strategies and achieve success in a versatile and constantly changing industry!! doesn't it sound great? i made it sound pretty good just then. anyhoo, alive awake alert enthusiastic is running through my mind these days and my life is rapidly changing now. all because i stopped stopping (?) myself from doing the things i wanted to do. good talk for now. we'll recap next time. thanks for listening.

Ode to Julie/ Julia!

Hello to you my one follower and my imaginary future followers. It has been so long. Let me update you? I have moved into my own sweet place in Aptos, which is in Santa Cruz County, just south of SC itself. I live three blocks from la playa. Live with Mose, who you have already met, my boyfriend Mikey who I have mentioned and our roomate, you don't need to know anything about him... Our house is an amazing place! Big backyard, plenty of space, lots of storage, awesome retro blue kitchen, vaulted ceilings, wood burning furnace, awesome neighbors... I'll stop there. We are a happy little family with our baby garden out back. We have strawberries, blueberries, jalapenos, tomatoes, romaine lettuce, basil and I don't know what else. The neighbors bring us rosemary and cilantro so we're set with those herbs. Other herbs have their own plans for this growing season ;). I love love love my new life here in Aptos, even with the constant road/ sewage maintenance work that goes on 360 degrees around me every weekday. My busy little life barely even notices it anymore. Mose hates it more than me poor guy. I have a new job at a great little sushi restaurant that I love! Just had my 26th Birthday that really got my wheels turning... why? Well, 25 seemed still closer to 20, (don't remind me the rules of rounding) 26 is so obviously close to 30. Here is where I want to begin my ode to Julie from the newest Cooking movie about Julia Childs. Julie Powell turned 30 in that movie and may I just say that even at my young age of 26 ;) I share this feeling of "what am I doing?" I am finishing my last prerequisite for Nursing School, which only promises a 3- 4 years wait before I get into the program. Long story short, I will have some time to kill. Is it very redundant and unauthentic to do something similar to what Julie Powell did with Julia Childs, but have no time frame, no official syllabus and no one role model to mimic? I would rather cook when I feel like it, based on any food that inspires me and that was originally cooked by anyone in the whole world. I don't yet know the criteria for my arbitrary mission, but I do know that I have one. First is to log on more than once a year and blog about... something. I have also been doing lots of arts and crafts, so perhaps I can blog about any of those projects, but on an uninventive day where arts and crafts seems like a mountain, simple cooking is always quite soothing. What do you think? I will think about this. I will perfect my mission. And as Julie says, "The Contender?" Lindsay. The Mission? I guess at this point my mission is checking in and blogging more. Hey, there's a good start. Now I just need to learn a little more about how this works. Perhaps I will tutorial myself on the protocol first, and then I'll blow your minds. Toodloo and uh, Bon Appetit...lol. Julie and Julia bruschetta tonight for dinner... yaya!
